To survive and perform, a blog must get constant infusion of fresh content. Early this year I decided that I would post two articles per day on my blog. It was a manageable job as long as my routines were fixed. I would get up in the morning and write one article for posting.
There are many other chores lined up for the morning but article would take priority. I would touch other chores only after I finish my article.
Second article was left for the evening. In between I had to attend to my hospital duties. I was doing good and my blog was zooming ahead.
I did this every day without fail for nearly a month or so.
Then everything went haywire.
News of accident is bad enough. If it involves your both parents it becomes worse. And on top of that if one of them has a severe head injury, it becomes worst case scenario.
If you are not aware then let me tell you that head injury patients recover very slowly if they recover at all.
We are lucky that father is recovering. But it also demands that he becomes whole household’s primary focus.
Crisis is part of life. Accidents keep happening and vary from minor to severe, physical to mental.
There are certain events when you find yourself helpless and trapped.
What I am going to write after this is not for bigger crisis event. In those situations your top priority must be crisis management.
But smaller rough events must not put you off the track.
If you write a blog that means your blog must get the constant infusion of content in all situations where your blog is still your priority.
There is no magic solution to this and only advanced hard work can help.
Write In Advance
Unless you cover hottest news niche, advance writing can be a easy solution. You can plan to write in a week or month in advance depending on your niche. If you need to put some relevant material or news item, that can be done in addition to that. For advance writing WordPress hasĀ a great TIME STAMP feature which you can use to your advantage.
If you are currently working on write and publish model like I used to, you need to think. It always feels secure to find 10-20 ready to post drafts liying in your admin area.
Write Small
Break your article into smaller articles to create a greater number of articles which can be posted. But that does not mean that you write meaningless articles. Articles should have content that people can use.
People like smaller articles as no body reads an essay over the web unless he/she is preparing for some acaxdemic event.
Ask For Cover
When doctors go on vacation, they ask their friends to cover their patients in case the need srises. Even if you are ready for a week ahead, your engagements can prolong. Ask somebody to write and post for you. He preferably should be in the same niche.
Can you think of any other way to do this. How do you manage your blog when you need to be off?
PleaseĀ do share your views.
