You start a blog on first day. You can keep the posts private if you want. You develop your skill as you do in previous scenario but all the writing is done on the blog.
You use blogging as practice ground only. Instead of MS Word, you write everything on your blogging software.
As your posts are kept private, you need not to worry about reactions of people.
This also gives you time to develop your blogging skills in addition to developing your writing skills.
You get to know the blogging software earlier and recognize of abilities and limitations.
As you grow your content by everyday practice, the blog software would organize your writings in chronological order, and keep a monthly record too.
It is easier to evaluate and monitor progress.
You can categorize the posts if you wish.
You will find that asking for feedback is easier. All you need is to send a link to friends and you would be rewarded.
It would also make you confident of your writing skills sooner than targeted period. You can, if you wish make your blog public sooner.
You may or may not want to show your practice content to others. But you can let it stay there for years to come, still private.
All you did was to shift your practice ground.
