A favicon  is a short form for favorites icon), also known as a website icon, shortcut icon, url icon, or bookmark icon.

Favicon is associated with a particular website or webpage.

Most of the browser now have ability to display favicons. Favicon is typically displayed  in the browser’s URL bar and next to the page’s name in a list of bookmarks.
