Search Engines-What Do They Want From You

Search engines are in business of information retrieval. They present information in response to searched query. Thus search engine should provide results which most satisfy a user’s query. If they do not present a relevant information they cannot have a long lasting business.

Therefore, search engines have developed algorithms for ranking web pages for relevant keywords. This ranking and key word relevancy in search query would determine the order in which web pages are displayed in response to a search query.

Different search engines differ in their algorithms but most Search Engine page-ranking algorithms rank pages based on the following aspects:

Content of the website

Relevant Keywords, and links on websites

Location and number of inward and outward links on websites

Relevancy of search terms in comparison to other websites

Today’s search engines pay no attention to the meta description tags. Earlier, search engines use to put quite an importance on keywords and search engines. But today the formula is relevance. If you stuff your webpage with keywords, it would get penalized by search engine if the content of webpage does not match with your keywords.

If you want your website to look good in eyes of search engine, follow this

Keep putting fresh content to your web pages

Gain maximum possible links from other websites

Everything else would give only marginal improvements.
