Ask.com To End Its Search Engine-Garry Price Leaves

Ask.com will no more be a search engine. Instead it would be reverted back to its old model of questions and answers. Barry Diller’s IAC which owns the Ask.com is cutting the job by 8 percent of the Ask workforce and killing the search engine.

Wall Street Journal reports

Ask.com is going back to basics.

In the company’s latest effort to boost its stagnant share of the search market, its new CEO unveiled plans to refocus the company’s products and marketing on the area where Ask believes it is strongest — searches framed as questions, as opposed to single words or phrases.

Meanwhile Garry Price, the industry mentor has left Ask.com. He was former director of information services at Ask.com.

Ask.com was marvelled for its innovations in search engine technology. It is a great industry loss.

It is doubtful whether the new model would make money, the motive behind the change.

It is speculated that Ask.com would now be using Google to power its search.

Um. Google is infiltrating everything on the internet.
