In online business, we often forget the assets we use for offline business.Phone is one such gadget that we do not often integrate into our business system.

Today, the telephone is integrated with internet. WAP & VOIP are perfect examples of this.

Today the websites can also be browsed on mobile phones but that is not what we intend to discuss here.

We are going to talk about use of phone in traditional way for expanding your internet business.

There are many ways to inculcated phone in your business system.

Phone is just a connecting medium. Using a phone would add one more channel where people can reach your and vice versa.

All the following models of phone inculcation in your business are based on above principle.

Customer Support

You can use phone lines to build customer support service. Most of businesses keep this toll free for local customers. You can leave the numbers on the contact page and should also let people know clearly when they could call you. To avoid overwhelming number of calls a link t most commonly asked questions should also be provided. Many companies provide a link, represented by a phone icon, to the support line.

Follow-up Calls

Follow-up call can make a big difference and gives you the chance to clear up any points that may have caused confusion. Follow up calls can be made after sending promotional material or after sales.

Contact Numbers

A contact telephone number is essential somewhere on your web site, as well as at the foot of your press releases and in your online newsletters. It can also be included in your e-mail signature line. This is different from customer support service. Former is a dedicated support service whereas other is just a way to contact you.

Crisis Hotlines

In the event of a crisis or when you expect a surge of consumer internet you can set up a freephone hotline to prevent an overload of e-mails.

Public Relations

The Phone is a great networking aid, allowing you to communicate on a personal level with journalists and consumers. While URLs and email addresses can be tiresome for remembering, phone numbers find places in people’s mind easily.

Fax

You can also use the fax services for communications in your business. while email might be overlooked in a busy inbox, Fax creates a sense of urgency and ensures prompt response. Your fax number should be included alongside your phone number wherever it appears online.
