WordPress introduced the Toggle feature with recent release ie. 2.9 version.
Word toggle is used to denote a on off switching action.
The term is used to indicate turning a feature on, or off, typically by pressing one key to turn the feature on, and then pressing the same key again, to turn the feature off.
The “Toggle” button in WordPress allows you to go full screen mode with a click and clicking the same button again brings you back to normal mode.
I decided to take screen shot to make this interesting and easy to understand.
First screen shot is what we normally see without using full screen toggle. Click on the image to view in full size.
The images are from admin interface while I am writing this post only.
When you click the full screen toggle button, it becomes like this. Again, click on the image to enlarge it.
You see all the unnecessary stuff that might distract you is gone. You have left with a big screen to write on.
There is one drawback though. You cannot access”image upload” button and choose between Visual and HTML editor interface.
For that you need to switch the toggle off.
There is one more thing that need to be mentioned.
Can you see the tabs of Firefox and other links over the blank writing area which can still add to your distractions.
Just press F11 and see the wonders. Here is the shot. Click to enlarge if you want
You are just left with blank writing screen and the commands you need.
No distractions
Just writing.
How did you like this tip. Please leave a comment.
