Understanding Brand and Branding

A brand goes for beyond the product or company it represents. Brand is unique identity of a company or business. Though it is associated with product but product itself is not brand.

Brand is the image of product and its qualities that is ingrained in people’s mind by means of branding.

A brand can be defined in many ways. Brand is often talked as an attitude, a set of values or way of life.
In simple terms the brand can be said to be an association that someone thinks when he or she thinks about your business.
The name Coca Cola does not just mean a cola drink. It also brings meaning of fun and lifestyle with it.

Brand is often confused with advertising. though advertising aims at building a brand but it is not brand itself.

Branding is very important aspect of ebusiness.

From very beginning of your online business, you must work upon building a brand recognition.

What you offer as product would affect the way your business would be branded but here are few things that comonly affect your brand.

Domain Name

A good domain name that is catchy and easy to remember has a good bearing on your branding strategy.

Web Design

Your website is your identity on the internet. The way you make and project it has a great impact on your brand. You must carefully choose color scheme, font, logo design, graphics and content. While these are important, major contribution is by usability of your website. An easy user interface, easy navigation and faster navigation are things that enhance usability.

Customer Service

Think Amazon. Its brand is built around concept of usability and customer service. if you don’t provide a good customer service, you would lag behind. Your customers must be satisfied and must feel good about your site to build a positive recognition for your business.

Build A Community

All major players in ecommerce are concentrating on building a community by offering tools and services for people.

Advertising

Advertising is lifeblood of your business and exposes your existence to new minds. Repeated exposures make an impression on people’s mind. People become aware of your being there and when they come across your name, they do not feel uncomfortable. The catch is the way you want to advertise your business. You can choose to impress upon as an information hub or cheap store or cutting edge service provider.

But you need to deliver what you say to see the results.
