Social media can be hardwork
Social media is new revolution of the internet and internet marketing is trying to harness it fully. According to one study every two of three marketers are using social media now a days.
That means roughly 67% and that is quite a lot. But how many are using it effectively?
Or how many can afford to?
I am not a great enthusiast of social media. Not only it is time consuming but interruptive too. First you need to be present at many places, you need to listen to the kind of stuff that you may not want to.
Why would I want to know what color the the shirt Mr A is wearing today. With people twittering everything they can think, imagine and spit, all you are left with is lot of tweets with few worth listening too.
Similar things happen on other social sites too. People are uploading the way the way they combed their hair today and the way they jaywalked today.
I know these kind of things are intersting when you are socialising for purpose of socialising or making friends.
But we are talking business here.
Then it is too interruptive in nature. Every now and then it would send me an email that one my friends has played some game and I should try and find how do I do.
That is annoying. Now turning these notifications off would not solve the matter. That just makes me unsocial if not antisocial.
No! I am not against social media. I find it an excellent way of connecting with people. I have found many people with whom I had lost touch as they moved physically away. It is a great way to connect and celebrate and share.
But I need to wiser when it comes to business. My problem is multifold. I do not like to spend time in idle gossiping. I find that difficult to do online too.
I do not have time. While social media had been in the list of activities for long, I could hardly do it. It is time consuming and there are so many of them.
Social media can be fun and you can make money while having fun. This is what social media exponenets said. After reading volumes of literature on the matter, I had to conclude that though free social media is very expensive.
And it is not that funny.
