Press Release-When Should You Be Submitting Them

A question that webmasters often contemplate is when to submit the press release. Should they be submitted like internet articles or there should be a fixed frequency. It is important to understand that press releases are not articles though they are written in the same fashion. You cannot attach an interval to press release submission because a news is to be distributed when there is news. ;-)

A press release may easily be considered spam if the reader feels that the content of the press release is not interesting.

Therefore press releases are only to be submitted when something newsworthy has happened.

Next question that might be raised is, what in all possibilities can be considered newsworthy?

That depends on your site’s activity and your niche. But following are few ideas that you can make news about.
Here’s a list of events when a press release can be distributed:

The Launch

A press release can be sent when your website launches. It gives you good opportunity to let people know about your website, its objectives, services it will provide and the niche it will cater to.

Addition of New Services or Products

Sending a press release is a good idea when you increase scope of your services or add new products. Please note that if you have a product store, then adding a new press release every time you add a product can be counter productive. You can set this at biweekly or monthly update or some product that you thing is of importance.

Public Events

When you arrange events like public speaking engagements, open houses, seminars etc., you can choose to advertise the event via press release.

New Partnership

It is always worth a news.

Award or Accomplishment

Accomplishments are always worth sharing and promoting. A press release would go a long way.

Polls, surveys and contests are few other things that come to my mind.
