Press releases are brief documents that are used to communicate news to the media. Please note that news does not mean media. Although a Press release distribution is an extremely cost-effective Internet marketing to build credible business because most readers are more likely to trust independent authorities such as reviewers, columnists, reporters or broadcasters than an over-hyped advertising message.
A well-written press release can dramatically endorse your company to the masses and greatly enhance the image.
Developing an effective press release demands content to be creative, eye catching, and somehow moving. The idea is to create a something that communicates and entices, in a similar manner to web copy albeit differently.
How do you accomplish this task?
Organize Your Facts
Before you write, you need to collect the related data and then make factual statements. You may have to undertake some research.
Identify Your Angle
It is a press release that would compete against others. You need to make it unique, newsworthy and relevant to the times. Most important fact and your story angle must be presented in the opening.
Catchy Headline
It’s a must.
Write in Third-Person
The reason is obvious. Readers are used to reading the news in third person. Third person stories are perceived as objective, in contrast to to subjective tone of first person.
State Facts
Provide references to any statistics, facts and figures raised and refrain from expressing personal opinions. If the need be draw conclusions based on the facts only..
Identify Your Readers
You must identify the section of population you want to target. The key to an effective communication lies in presenting your messages to interested readers. This can be done by sending your press releases to those media whose readers’ profile matches that of your target consumers.
You would need to conduct a bit of research for this before choosing your media.
