With everything so loud on the internet, some terms can confuse the newly christened marketer mind. In their effort to be in front the marketers keep inventing terms and some of them become so ingrained in our daily use that we take them for granted without considering the meaning.
Prelaunch and launch are essentially and actually convey same meaning. if you do not want an artistic pleasure out of your language, both the terms are geared for launching a product.
Product launching is an old concept. You announce a product launch date and then you tell everybody that you are launching a product on so and so date. you build suspense, you release teasers, trailers, coupons and other promo material to build a buzz.
Now everything you do before launch period is in effect an effort to create as much buzz possible so that when you launch your product, it is an immediate success.s
All the activity that you do for launching your product now comes under term prelaunch. Prelaunch is everything you do before launch and which leads to the launch day.
Launch is the actual day you release your product.
Your prelaunch is designed to pre-sell your product, where your launch is designed to sell it.
There appears a subtle difference in the two things but nothing is marked.
But these are prominent terms and one should know them.
Sidenote:
Sorry for delay in posting.I was not well for many days and could not mange writing. I am back now and you would see action frequently. I was reading something and came across these terms prelaunch and launch. When you dig them they are kind of same. Are not they!!
