It is always said that money is in the list. However the real truth is that money is in the responsive list.
From very beginning of your efforts to build a list, you should try and build a list that responds.
It is a dream of every marketer to build a list that completely responds to its requests and offers.
However, such a list hardly exists.
the more realistic goal is to build a list that connects with you and reasonably converts.
First and foremost, your business should build credibility. An information or offer from a credible person is more trustworthy and people respond more easily.
Here are the measures that I think are necessary to build a responsive list that receives communications from you with open hands.
Interact
After a person joins your list, it is up to you to interact well. Send a welcome email upon sign up. Your welcome email is also good chance to give tell them about newsletter, its frequency and the problems it aims to solve. You might have mentioned some of them in squeeze page but here you can have a detailed talk.
Whenever you send a message do personalize them. If I see my name on message, it attracts me. It is is same with everybody.
Let It Be fun
Make your messages interesting and fun. Try to use a little creativity without getting risk of becoming too artsy. If you wish you can ad few lines about yourself or your life so that it looks more personal and from a human and not from machine.
See what your subscribers like. You can also send interesting pictures and videos concerning your niche. There are plenty available now a days.
Research
Try to research what people are looking for in your niche. If research tells you a trend in your niche, then you know what majority of your audience wants. Sending the materials based on your research would be read avidly.
Moreover you become someone who knows the trends and sends them fresh content. They would be eager to receive what you are sending them because they new you always have fresh and new things to share with them.
Free Stuff
Create and send an E-book to your customers about anything that is related to your business or site. Offer this e-book for free. You can write about anything informational and helpful to your subscribers. You can do manuals and guides in so many things.
Share this e-book with everyone, even other sites.
Add e-coupons in your newsletters that will help them avail to special discounts.
When people get discounts that can be found in your newsletters, they will be eager to receive your newsletter in anticipation of what you are promoting next.
Just do not over do the coupons.
Respond
Respond to every query that your subscribers ask. Leave enough ways to contact you. Encourage them to interact with you on social networks. If a person builds relation with you on more than one places, he/she becomes more receptive to what you say.
Monitor
Monitor what works and what does not with your subscribers. Where do you get more response and what kind of emails are get minimal response.
Do the things that get response a more than those do not.
