Generally this happens when the person likes content of your website or exchanges her mailing address to receive what you are offering.
This is a good thing because you now have her permission to send her mails frequently till the time she remains your subscriber.
After you have built a relation with your list, you can use several methods to make money from your list.
Sell Ads
If you have a decent sized list you can consider selling advertisement on your newsletters. The ads may vary from banner to text ads. If your newsletter is in text form, you can consider sending text ads only.
If you are taking out HTML newsletter, you might consider selling banner ads or image ads.
Sell Your Own Products
A list is a great place to sell your products. The results can be instantaneous and phenomenal. Just try it.

If you do not have your own products or you want to sell somebody else’s products, the list again is a great place to do that.
A word of caution though. Do not over do this. People do not like much sale and hype even if they are on your list.
Do not take things for granted.

If people subscribe to you because they like your content, you might consider selling the content itself by making your newsletter paid.
