Actually this point should come at top given the importance. If you come across as credible and trustworthy then people easily subscribe than if you are not. There are a lot of things that you can do to build credibility.

Good Service

Keep your subscribers satisfied and happy. Interact with them regularly. Provide them with good info. treat them once in while with free goods. This would also build mutual trust and eagerness to buy product from you on returning basis. Every then and now, a satisfied customer will recommend you a business. Word of mouth and recommendations alone can rake in more business than an expensive ad.  With more members on the list, the more people will get to know about what you have new to offer.
