Things You Should Check Before You Start A Blog

You might be wanting to start a new blog project or you might be on your way to launch your first blog. Because blogging has become a very professional activity, you need to plan and make strategies about your blog launch. You must plan your blog launch activity in detail so that you are spared from last minute hiccups and surprises.

Blog launch starts with why? From that you build upon your idea. Here are the things that you should always check before you launch your blog.

What Is Your Goal
Why do you want to start a blog. Is this your independent venture machine or it is in addition to an already existing business. Is it for acquiring more business prospects or would just serve as voice of your company. Is there a monetary goal attached to it. If yes then define that target.

Define Your Audience/Niche

Who is going to be your target reader. A target reader would vary with your niche. Defining your readership is akin to defining your niche. Choosing an sticking to a niche avoids a lot of confusion later on.

Content type/Format

What would be your format of blogging. Is it going to be in text, audio or video. Do you intend to use a lot of pictures. What would be your source?

Access

Would your blog be freely available to anyone who walks in or you would make it accessible to few limited persons. If you are blogging for your company staffc you may not want it public. If you want to charge for the access then you need to decide on the price of the membership.

Authorship & Frequency

Who is going to write for your blog. Would it be you or you will outsource the work. How often would your blog be updated. A lot of things go into this thinking . It would depend on your chosen niche, your competition and your plan for market domination.

Monetization

Would you be monetizing your blog. Decision for this depends on the service that your blog is going to render to your business. If you decide to monetize then you would need to decide how. Would it be Adsense or affiliate products or your own product.

Budget

Would you assign any monthly budget for blog promotion. How would you be promoting your blog and marketing it. The scope for expenses is endless and you need to strike a balance between your needs and your wallet.

Platform

You can decide from various available platforms but I would recommend Wordpress. You also need to decide on your blog template and other customizations. Laying rules and terms beforehand is a great help. In passing I would also mention that you zero on your hosting plans
