Starting A Blog- Plan In Detail Before You Jump Into Creation

Something you only learn the hard way. I have been neglecting the advice of this title for years together even though I created so many websites for myself.

Here is how I use to create a website.

  • Get an idea about the niche
  • Grab a domain name
  • Point to my DNS on my resller account in Host Gator
  • Go to Cpanel and Fantastico
  • Create a WordPress blog
  • Write the Welcome post
  • Configure blog as needed
  • Assign categories as the blog is built
  • Adjust theme as per needs
  • Install the plugins I need

All my website including this one started like that. While it is okay in the beginning. You learn a lot from the process but it is important to have an early impact and make progress.

In the way I described, the blog moves slowly. And if you are busy, you would forget few things here and there.

Here is what I do know-

After I find a niche and do hosting related activities. I plan out the layout, check for the theme I intend to use and plan the categories in detail. I have created my own checklist which I have to finish after blog is created. These include configuration things and plugins I require.

Plus I have a prewritten posts on the topic which I publish status after the blog is published.

It takes lesser time and has more impact.

Once set you need not to check again and again for trivial things.

You can focus more on creating posts and writing posts.
