Internet business is so easy to start that people can do that within few days. With more and more automation scripts being released and made available, it has become a business within a click.
But like any other business, business on the internet is still a business and follows the same principle. By definition, a business is a profitable venture. If you are in business, you have to make profits.
If you are not making profits after a good amount of hard work and trial, you need to go back and look for the cause.
While there could be many reasons for failure of your business, but for many aspects the cause could be narrowed down to on thing.

There are many profitable niches where you can make money. But every profitable niche is not suitable for you and you are not suitable for each of them either.
With ease of selection and execution available on the internet, people do jump into the business because they saw others making money in that.
You must select a niche that you already have a knowledge or experience about, If that is not the case then hobbies and passions are the next points which can help you to find your niche.
Next step is to know whether your chosen niche is profitable or not.
You must find out whether people are looking for information in your niche? If they are so they buy the information.
This is easy way to find a niche.
Problem arises when you cannot find a niche which is profitable and you already are aware of. This is a highly unlikely situation but cannot be ruled out.
In this scenario, you need to choose a niche and gather as much knowledge you can about that.
Learning curve here would be longer though.
