Too Many Links Would Diliute Your Revenue….
Unless you have traffic to support them!
Website is like a virtual land. You can use its portions to earn revenue. You can use it put banner ads, text links and affiliate links that would bring money.
It is a common thinking that more the links you place on your virtual land, higher would be your revenue.
But if you have an average traffic then this would prove counterproductive.
Until and unless you get horrendous traffic you must not put too many outgoing links and become a link farm where your user gets lost.
Like real estate, your website must be well planned in structure and your links must not be very crowded.
That is the aesthetic part of putting the links.
Now, when you place too many links on your webpage that means you are decreasing the chance of getting each link clicked. The probability of each link being clicked decreases everytime you place more links.
Suppose you run Adsesnse on your website and you get a fair amount of revenue. You think that is not enough and you can capitalize on affiliate commissions.
It is a good idea but then you must weigh the possibility that your Adsense revenue would come down a bit.
No! I am not discouraging you from doing anything. I am merely expressing probability.
It is a different scene when you have very large traffic that could handle and offset the number of links that you add to.
One last question?
What is too much?
That depends on your traffic. You would have to experiment and analyse your web stats.
Experiment and monitor with tracking. Something like Adtrackz will help you in this regard..
