2010 would mark my 6th year in online business and third year of a business with direction. For initial three years I have jumped from one task to another and moved from one opportunity to another. I was online but hardly doing any business.
I operate my sites on part time basis only. Most of you would too be having a job and working on your venture or wishing to start it.
I mentioned about wasting almost three years initially.
This happened because I did not have a plan. I did not set goals.
But over the time I have learned to plan things in advance. Not only it provides a direction to your business but also give you something to look forward to work on.
2009 has passed. Just 17 more days to new year. While you might be in mood for holidays, let me remind you to plan your next year.
This is a good time to plan as you can have days to think over and modify before you take out a final version.
When I say plan, I mean more than passing a resolution.
The planning should be in detail as lear and objective as possible. It needs to be objective because that helps to measure your efforts.
If you have not started yet and are guilty of procrastination, it is time to start moving things.
If you already have a business running, it is good time to ponder over your achievements and failures and goals that you want to attain in the next year.
There are two ways that people use to do this.
First is continuous at stretch method. You take vacation and work on your plan for as many days that it might take.
It is a kind of focused activity where you do not allow any external stimuli to act on your thoughts till you are clear that you have come up with plan.
Other one is better suited to people who want to work on their plan evryday for sometime. You note your thoughts for next few days and then work on them for a final draft in the end.
I like second method more and I think it is more suited to people who have their jobs and find difficult to take vacation/leave/
Whatever method you want to follow, just get on with the planning. You need to build a strong founadation for year 2010.
