Email is a good tool to market your product and communicate with your customers.

But email marketing is also abused by people who send unsolicited bulk mail to the users.

This unsolicited mail is called SPAM.

SPAM had always been a big problem. An ordinary observer finds it hard to distinguish between a legitimate mail & spam.
Because spammer disguise them as legitimate operators and both commercial mail & spam have a similar appearance, it creates a problem among users.

Problem of users translates into problems of email marketer.

Most of the emails that people use already have spam filter which catch the mails they think are spam.

Not surprisingly, many legitimate commercial mails also get caught by them reducing the reach & audience of marketer.

Then, there are SPAM laws. The companies who consider email marketing most ensure that they do not violate spam laws.

But in spite of these problems, email marketing is very profitable.

  • Get addresses authenticated by users.
  • Provide a valid physical address of your company.
  • Not purchase the email address. Instead there should be a mechanisms to get users volunteer for providing the information.

When you built a mechanisms to let recipients consent to receive email it is called opt-in email advertising.This would reduce the dissatisfaction among users and complaints of SPAM.
