Do You Know What You are Doing!

In earlier days of my internet business I worked without a well written plan. Everyday I would come back from my job excited, open my desktop( could not afford a laptop then) and then connect to internet. First thing I always did was check my mails with a hope to see “You have made a sale” kind of email. Then I would check my web stats and wonder why out of hundereds not a single person bought.

There were many a projects I had conceived in my mind. [tag-tec]Article writing[/tag-tec], [tag-tec]pay per click advertisement[/tag-tec], [tag-tec]forum posting[/tag-tec] -I wanted to do everything everyday. Blogging had just come into vogue at that time. I wanted to learn that too along with [tag-tec]html[/tag-tec] that I was already pursuing. There were many[tag-tec] ebooks[/tag-tec] to read but I searched and downloaded more.

Because I had so many things in hand I accomplished nothing. Every day I would look into my mailbox and web stats but found no changes. I was working to fullest of my abilities and getting nothing. It was so depressing. Then there were stories of small guys making it big and few of them in front of me only.

Why cannot I!

Everyday I would put more efforts but results were never promising.

It took me long time to understand my mistakes. And when I realized I audited my inputs. In spite of my hard work I had devoted very less time in growth of my [tag-tec] online business[/tag-tec]. Rest of the time was wasted in checking mails, visiting the new offers just because they happen to reach my inbox, lurking in the forums.

Many of you would be feeling the same way I had felt when I started. I do not about you but i was not from a business background and my field of specialization was not even remotely related to business training. Little knowledge, lack of familiarity with the surroundings, loneliness, high enthusiasm and high expectations make it a very complex situation for the beginners.

That is why I must say, “It is very important to know what you are doing”.

We must understand the activities we are doing. Ask yourself whether the action you do right now is going to grow your business!

There are things that grow our business. For example writing mails to the list, writing articles and submitting to article directories, writing a blog post, writing a forum post, updating content of the website, creating a new product, sending a new offer to the list, automating our business by script so that there is more time for your business.

And there are things that waste our time. For example lurking in the forum because you do not want to do anything better, checking frequently your mailbox to appease your expectation, getting lost in world wide web just because a click link tempted you, buying a new ebook on business when you already have plenty unread, searching for the secret that would bring a horde of visitors. I think you get the idea.

In business you need to

  1. Grow Your Business by all known steps
  2. Grow Your knowledge so that when you exhaust all methods and options for 1, you have other one ready.

You need to read and educate yourself. Therefore it becomes important to focus on and prioritize your work. You cannot do everything so you must focus on one or two methods of growth for your business, use & exhaust them fully before moving to next one. Meanwhile you must educate yourself so that when you decide to use next option you have a good idea of how to work on that.

Whatever you do, just keep analyzing your actions. I learnt that quite a hard way. You can shorten your learning curve.
