Before you publish a webpage or multiple pages in website, you must test it for various functionalities. Though you may not realize it, a website that stands poorly on quality scale would cost more in the long run. The expenditure and the time is in form of website redesigns, forfeited revenue, and lost customers.

Testing a website is a long and tedious task, but it is very important task. Website testing has many stages and all of them are important.

The Looks
Your site should be checked for visual appeal. This would let you know whether your site looks as you intended. The site should be checked in all browsers and ensured that it looks the way you want.

Graphics loading and graphics integration should be noted. There should preferably be no change on going from one page to another.

The website should also be tested under different screen resolutions and colour depths

Functions

This involves an assessment of every aspect of the site where scripting or code is involved. It could be

  • Testing forms
  • Testing scripts
  • Payment processing system links
  • Navigation

Content

Third and final checking. You need to find and remove any errors in your content and ensure that your website has a professional appearance. Every page should be reread, spellings should be checked thoroughly and language usage should be analyzed.
