Following an announcement from VeriSign, provided of infrastructure services for networks, the domain price increase is going to be effective from 1st July 2010.
This would apply to both domain name registration and renewal.

VeriSign announced that as of July 1, 2010, the registry fee for .com domain names will increase from $6.86 to $7.34 and that the registry fee for .net domain names will increase, from $4.23 to $4.65.
The increase is aboutĀ 7% but may translate to 10% hike when it comes to end user.
There are still plenty of days left to avail the old rates.
