Article Marketing-Things That Makes An Article Directory Good & Worth Submitting
There was a time on www when there were few authors and fewer article directories. Every body used to submit to same directories. With every now and then an article directory becoming live on the web, a crowd of article directories has added only chaos and confusion to the authors, especially a new one.
The list of article directories today runs in thousands, not hundreds. But a lesser proportion is actually worth submitting. In my recent post I published a list of 213 article directories where you can consider your article to publish.
But still, you need to do your own evaluation for each article directory. It depends on your niche and your personal preference. That thing apart here are the few things that you must look for in an article directory, before you commit yourself to it.
Reputation: How is particular article directory perceived in eyes of reader? This depends on the content and age of directory. Reputation takes time to build even on the net and if directory is old enough with good content, it should be reputed. You can ask for people’s views on particular directory in your niche forums.
Page Rank: Google page rank is measure of worth of the website as per Google’s analysis. It varies from 1 to 10. Higher the rank better is the website in eyes of Google. Therefore it is a good idea to prioritize your article submission so that directory with a higher page rank is rated higher for your submission. From SEO point also back links from a higher PR site have more value.
Alexa Rank: Alexa measure the traffic that a site receives. More traffic to an article directory means more readers which would turn into visitors on your website.
Niche Directories: If you have a niche directory in your niche available it is good news for you. You must submit to a niche article directory.
Online Submission Process: Though it was in vogue earlier, email submission is much more cumbersome as compared to online submission. It might be your personal choice if you want to submit through email but online form submission is much easier and less time consuming.
Author Account: Most of the article directories do require you to open an account today. That is desirable because if you have an account, you can view and access all your articles at one place.
Statistics: Your directory should be able to provide you statistics about your articles. How many times your articles have been viewed, how many times your link has been followed, what are most popular articles etc.
Back Links: Most of good article directories do not allow hyperlinks in the main content of your article but in resource box you should be allowed to put in your website links. Article directories generally allow between 2-4 links.
Next time you ponder over an article directory, just consider these points before you make a decision
