For a marketer using article marketing as a traffic and link generation tool, resource box is the most important part of the submitted article.
A resource box is a short paragraph or description at the end of an article containing brief information about the author and a link to website.
The only reason that so many articles exist is this resource box. Apart from providing free information, an author is promoting himself or his business too. That happens at this place called resource box or about the author or author bio.
A good resource box will build up links to your website, which increases your search engine ranking. Secondly, people will click on those links and visit your site, thus serving as source of web traffic. If properly done, a resource box also builds a brand name for you.
When you are submitting an article you are doing a classic give and take. You provide information in article body and you take visitors, links in resource box.
Your article should provide the necessary information so that it gets many readers and your resource box should be enticing enough so that people would want to click the link to your website.
Remember! Your resource box would get only a cursory look by the reader and click would result only if it is well crafted.
Here is little help to construct a good article resource box.
Brand Your Name: Your resource box should be written in third person and should begin with your name. Your article reader must be told who was the person behind the article he just read. This would help you to brand yourself. Repeated exposure to your name would make an expert image in your readers’ mind and they would listen to you more attentively when you say anything, including your sales offer.
Tell About Yourself:After your name, a little info about you should be added. This is not to list all your accomplishments but do mention who are you and how you are qualified to write the article they just read.Just a sentence or two would add credibility. For example if I am an expert in field of internet marketing, an example of good beginning of my article resource box is
“Arun Pal Singh is a seasoned internet marketer…….”. This tells my reader who am I and how I am qualified to write an article.
Tell Your Business & Make A Call: Next thing is to tell people about your business and the address where you do it, a compelling reason why people should visit your website and a link to your website where people would click to reach your website. Your reason could be more information, to sign up for a newsletter, to watch a video, to download a freebie or an invitation to join membership or any thing that would encourage the people to click.
Let us come back to the example
“Arun Pal Singh is a seasoned internet marketer who runs the website http://ebizgo.ifo where he offers free subscription to his ecourse “Online Business manual”, a complete course on starting and running online business. Visit http://ebizgo.info for a free subscription of his course”
Test & Analyze:It is a good idea to create multiple resource boxes and split test them. Some directories like Ezine Articles allow you to store up to 3 resource boxes and then you can select the one you want at time of submission. You can also test different article directories with different resource boxes. Find which one is working best over a period and then stick to it.
You may need to edit your resource boxes often in the beginning but eventually you will find the best for your business.
