An article needs to be a house information and the information should flow out of articles as one reads it. An article cannot afford to be a boring essay or plain documentary if needs to serve as marketing tool also. Therefore article needs to be structured and well laid.
Writing is a literary activity and at any given time, one person would write differently form other. However, there is a basic set of rules that must be followed. You are free to show your literary talent but do not deprive your article of the marketing role in doing so.
Think of your article as subtle salesperson whose job is to bring more visitors to your website.
Title: A title is a pitched projection of your content. A title should stand out among the crowd of other titles, where it would be displayed in an article directory. Do not write often repeated boring titles that would not catch any body’s attention.
“Internet Marketing Tips” is not a bad title but there is nothing ticklish and attention grabbing about it. “7 Internet Marketing Tips” is better but still common. If you write something like “7 Internet Marketing Tips To Put Your Business Into Overdrive” or “7 Internet Marketing Tips To Become Number One Affiliate” etc etc, they would turn more heads, raise many more eyebrows and constrict more pupils.
Do not forget search engines. Put your main keyword in your title. Nearer it is to the start, better it would be.
Content: It goes without saying that content should be relevant to the title. Whether you write the title first or the content is immaterial. Both should be tailored to compliment each other. You should write your content in optimum words. The most accepted range of word count is 300-1500 words and different article directories might have different standards of acceptance.
You should aim to write between 500-700 words. If you make it big, the readers would loose interest before they reach you resource box. A shorter article may fail to spell your readers.
Content should flow smoothly and nothing should be haphazard. That would confuse your readers. it is good idea to introduce your topic first as a warmer and then your advice/viewpoint or whatever it may be.
Do not place http links in your texts until they are very-very essential. First, they irritate the article directories who may choose to decline the publication.
Even if published, hyperlinks would take your readers away from your customers.
Do not cluster your sentences to form a big para. Reading on internet is more like scanning, so it is good to not let your paragraph be more than 3-4 sentences. Split it to get more attention span.
Resource Box: This is the place where you sell yourself. You can write about yourself and your business. You can also place a link to your website. Many directories allow more than one link.
Take care not to yell here. Keep your pitch minimum for it is a reflection of your desperation. Just give your introduction and that of your business. Your purpose is to pull the reader when he reaches resource box. If you yell he would run away.
Keywords: Keyword is a word used to find useful results in internet searches. For example I “internet marketing” is a keyword. Keywords will vary with context and content of your article. Article directories would ask you to list 3-5 main keywords for an article.
Search engines would then rank your article pages according to keywords used by you. Higher the number of times a keyword appears in your article, better your article will be placed in searches. This is called keyword density and is commonly employed by search engines to evaluate web pages.
It is advisable to include your keyword every 100 words. But this should not be done at the cost of readability.
That is all. Your article is ready to be submitted.
Good Luck.
