Not Offering Weekly Free Downloads Anymore

I  hate to say this but things are quite pressing. I will not be posting free downloads anymore. This is done because it conflicts directly with my other site eproductslibrary.com

That website is dedicated fully to the product downloads, therefore it becomes logical to stop them here.

I am sorry for the inconvenience caused to all of you but it was a necessary step.

I am devoting the column to the basic lessons series in addition to the usual column on Thursdays.

The addtional lessons on TUesday would begin from next Tuesday.

This series is aimed to address the basic building blocks of internet business, the very foundations on which your business would prosper. The articles in this series are for people who have just started or willing to start. As a part of basic skills development, it is my advise to learn some part of web designing. No I am not asking you to become a geek but you should have a basic , very superficial idea so that you do not look for help in case you want to modify color, add some code or add a graphic or create logo.

Just a brief idea about the designing and language involved would strengthen you and in the long run would prove handy.

Covering of the web designing is out of scope of this series and moreover I am not qualified for that. However, I can guide you to the websites which offer courses and quick information whenever you require.

I hope that they’ll be useful to you. [Read more...]

IM Eye Meta Review

IM Eye is very catchy name of the Keyword research tool developed by Steve Clayton and Tim Godfrey of The Commission Blueprint fame.

IM Eye is said to be revolutionary keyword research software.  It is supposed to operate from a different angle. It does not require you to put the seed keyword (In case you do not get the term, a seed keyword is what you initially put into your keyword research software.)

It rather would present you highly searched keywords from its database and then you can work upon them.

Sounds Great! Let us see the details. [Read more...]

What Is WYSIWYG Editor?

WYSIWYG stands for “What You See Is What You Get”. We are talking about website creation now and WYSIWYG editors have a great role to play especially if you are designing HTML website.

To understand concept of WYSIWYG editors let us understand how website pages are created without them. If you want to create an HTML page, you need to open a plain text document and then type the HTML code. You need to imagine your layout and should know the code to create a document with desired layout and color combination.

However for that you should know HTML and rather be master at it. If there is a problem with any element of the webpage, you need to scan the code and then correct it.

That is only possible if you are a professional. [Read more...]

What Is A Text Editor?

A text editor is a type of program used for editing plain text files. If you have used Microsoft Notepad in your computer, that is an example of text editor.

Text files different from word processor files [Document files created by word processors such as Microsoft Word, or OpenOffice.org etc.]

A plain text file is represented and edited by showing all the characters as they are present in the file whereas  documents created by a word processor generally contain formatting control characters which enable functions like bold, italic, fonts, columns, tables, etc.

In other words a data in text file is what you see in the display whereas in word processor files there are hidden codes along with the displayed content which changes the display and formatting as we set it to be.

Text files can contain plain text, but they are not limited to such.

Data storage Because of their simplicity text files are commonly used for storage of information. It is often easier to recover corrupted text file. Disadvantage of text file is more storage than is strictly necessary.

Not going into much technical details we come back t text editors.

Some text editors are small and simple, while others offer a broad and complex range of functionality.

Following are the many features that a typical text editor has

  • Search & Replace
  • Cut, copy, and paste
  • Simple formatting – Line wrap, auto-indentation, bullet list formatting, comment formatting [Notepad does not have few of these features]
  • Undo & Redo –This function is quite similar as in word processors . The older text editors had  only one level of edit history remembered and successively issuing the undo command toggles only the last change [Notepad still does this]  Modern or more complex editors usually provide a multiple level history such that issuing the undo command repeatedly will revert the document to successively older edits.
  • Data transformation – Reading or merging the contents of another text file into the file currently being edited.

Specialized Editors

There are many types of specialized editors that are more complesx and geared to carry certain tasks. For example source code editors are text editors with additional functionality to facilitate the production of source code.

HTML editors create the plain text files that deliver web pages. Examples are Dreamweaver, E (text editor), Microsoft FrontPage, HotDog, Homesite, Nvu, Tidy, and GoLive. Many of these also  offer the option of viewing a work in progress on a built-in web browser.

You would often be using text editing to take handy notes, create a text email or create or modify HTML code and to turn word processor files into text files.

Notepad though quite basic would be your frequent companion in your online business.

Whenever I work on my computer, a Notepad window is always open.
