I just received an email from Google Email team in response to my query regarding domain purging.

They said that they have identified the issue. They actually did not reveal what the issue was.

I am in process of  resubmitting the purged domains.

Let us see how Google Adsense for domains behave in future.

Last week, a friend of mine complained me about Google rejecting his Adsense application on pretext of not having quality content. When I looked at the site, I found content that was original but limited. In any case it was much more than my two pages when I applied for Adsense and was fortunately approved.

Adsense seems to getting stricter!

A brief search led me to Webmasters World where a user had similar complaints. I do not know how factual the following are but they are being presented as they are.

I see more and more people complaining that Adsense rejected their application, and to be accepted they must adhere to certain guidelines:

- your website must be your own top-level domain (www.example.com and not www.example.com/mysite).
- your domain must have been registered and active for at least 6 months before you apply for AdSense.
- You must provide accurate personal information with your application that matches the information on your domain registration.
- your website must contain substantial, original content

I am also aware that you can apply for Adsense through Hubpages and Blogger blogs. So having a TLD does not make much sense and so does the 6 months period because in a reply to above post at same forum, many claimed to have it before that.

But rising number of application rejections does make one thing clear. Google has become choosy about picking websites for approval.

And it is always better to be prepared to the best of their expectations.

At their blog, Google Adsense hints at few things you need to know before you apply for Adsense.

I am not sure why this is happening. The Google Adsense For Domains is just purging out few of my domains after approval. I tried submitting again and yes they went off the list again.

I do not what is happening.

Google does not allow the site listed with Google Applications for use in Adsense for Domains. But such is not the case here.

Even then..?

I wrote a letter to the Google Adsense.

I have closed many websites in the end of last year which were either not performing or demanded time that was not at my disposal.

I closed them one by one and in order to monetize, I have listed them in Google Adsense for domains program.

What Is Google Adsense For Domains?

Google Adsense for domains is a program by Google Adsense where you can park the domain with them and they would display relevant ads on them.

If you have non working domains lying idly, you can consider joining the program.

You would get a percentage of ad clicks from your parked domain.

Ads on parked domains is not a new concept and many domain registrar like Godaddy and Sedo and others do it if yu let the domain parked with them.

They make money but do not give domain owner anything.

But it is possible to earn money with Google Adsense for domains.

How To Join The Program?

You need to have a working Adsense account if you wish to work on your parked domains.If you do not have you an account, you can apply for one.

• In your Adsense account,  go to “Adsense Setup”.
• Click On “Adsense For Domains”
• Click “Add New Domains”
• Fill the domain name  in the form, one domain name per line and select the language.
• Submit by pressing  “Add Domains” button.

The system then starts verifying the domains.

Now, go to your registrar and change the Nameservers to following

• ns1.googleghs.com
• ns2.googleghs.com
• ns3.googleghs.com
• ns4.googleghs.com

That is all. Wait for verification of the domain which might take anything between two hour to two days.

I am just starting with it. Let us see if I make any money. One thing is for sure. It is not going to pay as mush as the Adsense for websites does.

Less traffic and less advertisers are my prime reasons for this speculation.

Adsense Terms and Conditions don’t permit transfers of account ownership. But there are provisions to  update your payee name to fix misspellings or to make adjustments for changes such as marriage, death, or company mergers.

Not everyone can do it from within the Adsense Interface though.

Adsense publishers from following countries are not allowed to change their names from Adsense account interface

Otherwise , in most locations, you will have the option to change your payee name within your account by following these steps:

1. Sign in to your account.
2. Visit your Account settings page.
3. In the Payee Information section, click edit payee name.
4. Review the important notes about payee name changes, accept the terms, and continue.
5. Enter your desired payee name and save your changes.

Your payee name change will take effect for the next possible payment cycle. Changes made before the 16th of the month typically affect the current month’s payment, while changes made after the 16th won’t take effect until the next month’s payment cycle.

What If You Are From Above Listed Regions and You Require To Change The Payee Name!!

Simply put you need to cancel your account and submit a new application.

Here are the steps

1. Complete the cancellation form.
2. When you receive notification that your account has been closed, submit a new application using your new payee name.
3. Once your application is approved, replace the existing AdSense code on your pages with code generated from your new account.

Yep! Its bit scary but that is the way for people from those places. [I am from India, one of listed so I know how you feel.]

I like Google Adsense or other ads in image format. The pictures speak so much more than the text calling. I find them tempting. But Google Image Adsense Ads have always caused a disappointment.

They do not convert as the text ads.

When I started Adsense experiments, I listened to Google and chose “Text and Image Ads” for display. As I learned more about Adsense, it came to my knowledge that image ads do not pay well and convert less.

So I did the obvious – shifted to “Text only” Ads.

This remained for years. My Adsense revenue increased gradually and I was happy.

Untill Google sent an email.

The email said that I might be loosing money because I have not chosen the image ads for display. Choosing an image and text option increases the competition and displays the better and more competitive ad.

I gave it a thought. Things might have changed by now. Let us see.

I shifted to Text and Image mode again.

This time my revenue dropped, and it was significant.

So the image ads never worked for me.

What is your experience?

Till now beta test, the feature of  General Category blocking, is being released to all publishers in English-speaking countries. This feature would be available only in English ads regardless the language of the site.

With this new control, you can opt out of receiving ads from across 170 specific categories.

Adsense shows shows  the percentage of total revenue and total impressions for each category to give you insight into the categories of ads that appear on your site and the relative spend in those categories.

The feature is available in the new AdSense interface.

Yes!  That is my Adsense earning for the first month I started with Adsense February 2005. Yes! It contained 28 days but I think it would not have made a substantial difference even the month contained 31 days.
Looking back on that account brought the memories of those time back. A young unsure doctor ventured into a field that was discouraged by all that surrounded him. Mostly because they never understood the potential power he could feel.

That $1.11 gave him such a confidence that he persisted.

He saw is first check of $108  about 18 months later.

From that point he has never looked back.

This goes for all those who doubt and fear the potential of promise that business holds.

Adsense New Interface is available globally now. Adsense had been testing it with selected publishers. It is still in beta test  but they have begun rolling out the new AdSense interface to all publishers globally. Within the next few weeks, expect a “Try the new AdSense interface” link appear in the upper corner of your account. Clicking the link will bring you to the new interface.

Better and More Interactive Ad Interface

The new interface is bigger, catchier and more interactive.

The new interface allows you to quickly see your earnings and payment information, find relevant features, and make changes to your account. It also brings relevant help and other resources, like videos and blog posts, right into the interface, so you can get the information you need without leaving your account.

Data

The new interface is more insightful. More detailed performance reports by ad type, ad size, ad unit, targeting type, and bid type for total earnings and other metrics, over custom date ranges. You’ll also find graphs of your data on the new Performance reports tab.

You can quickly view impressions, clicks, and earnings all in one graph, compare text ad performance to image ad performance, compare date ranges, and easily analyze data to recognize trends.

Better Ad Control

Ad controls are now in one place, on the Allow and block ads tab. Here, you can  filter ads from specific advertisers, categories, and ad networks. Ad reviewing is easier than before. You can now search for ads in the ad review center by ad type, keyword, URL, or ad network, and choose to allow or block them.

If it is not there yet, wait for the red bold link to appear on upper right hand corner of your Adsense account. Once you use you would also be able to provide feedback and suggestions.
