Adsense Introduces Two Cool New Features

Recently Google announced two cool new optimization options which would be of great value to publishers. These features are Adsense for search ads and Adsense for Ajax. I think both have their uasability and if used well they can bring in more revenue.

AdSense for Search Ads Only

Now in addition to custom search ads option there is another option for monetizing  the search ads. You can now monetize your own, non-Google search results.  Now, with AdSense for search ads only, publishers can now include AdSense for search ads on their pages and pair them with their own, homegrown search results.

By adding just a few lines of JavaScript to your page, you can display AdSense for search ads above, beside, or below your own search results. You can pick the size, shape and number of ads displayed in each block, and you can even adjust the style of the ads to better fit the look and feel of your site.

AdSense for Ajax

Other option is  content ads with AdSense for Ajax. With traditional AdSense for content, ads refresh only when a page is reloaded. However Ajaxallows visitors to navigate a lot of content without actually leaving a single page. You must have come across tabbed interfaces where you can browse different tabbed sections without reloading the page.

With AdSense for Ajax, your AdSense for content ads will refresh whenever there’s a context change – regardless of whether the page reloads or not.

Both of these AdSense features can be easily added to most sites by just copying and pasting a few lines of JavaScript code, which will help you show highly relevant ads to your visitors.

I am amore interested in the former one as I do not use Ajax.

If you use please let us know  your feedback for sure.

Make Money With Google Affiliate Network

I happened to join Google Affiliate Network for becoming an affiliate at DIYSEO, an SEO solution for small business owners.

Google Affiliate Network needs you to have a preexisting Adsense account which I had and my application was approved within a day.

Once I logged in I was surprised to see the number of advertisers Google Affiliate Network had. There are a lot of products that you can sell with your payment in just one account.

What Is Google Affiliate Network?

Google Affiliate Network is self explanatory. It is an affiliate network that allows you to an advertiser’s banner or text link on your site. When a transaction, such as a sign-up or purchase, occurs through one of these affiliate links, Google Affiliate Network will track the sale and pay you a commission.

What Are The Requirements?

You need to have a website with audience. Google says

We encourage you to consider Google Affiliate Network if you:

  • Manage a site that attracts a desirable audience.
  • Can test advertising offers and nurture the most productive relationships.
  • Are an expert in driving and converting visitor traffic.
  • Adhere strictly to Google Affiliate Network quality standards and advertiser-specific terms.

It further mentions

We’ve found that Google Affiliate Network tends to yield greater benefits to publishers who create niche content, manage loyalty and rewards programs, aggregate coupons and promotions, or manage social media.

So if you have a website you can potentially apply for joining the network. Google Affiliate Network even accepts publishers outside of the United States.

Is There Any Fee?

A good affiliate network is always fre of charges to join. There’s no cost to participating in Google Affiliate Network.

How To Apply?

To sign up for Google Affiliate Network:

1. If needed, apply to Google AdSense.
2. Visit the Google Affiliate Network sign-up page.
3. Provide your AdSense user name and publisher ID.
4. Provide your website information, promotional details, and other profile information to create your Google Affiliate Network account.

Typically you would receive a confirmation or rejection when the review process is complete. That usually should happen within 24 hours.

I am still restricting my campaigning with DIYSEO but I am considering joining few publishers more.

Would let you know.

You can share your views in the comment box.

Google certified ad networks Available To All Adsense Publishers

Google Adsense has a new feature now and this feature was rolled out last year to American and European publishers. Two days back this feature has been extended to all the publishers world over.

The feature is inclusion of Google certified ad networks into Adsense.

Before this feature n Adsense publisher could show only Adwords advertisement in his Adsense ad display. But after this feature is enabled, an Adsense publisher would also be showing advertisements from other ad networks which has been certified by Google.

Here is the original video that explains it well
YouTube Preview Image

AdSense allows multiple Google certified ad networks to compete for your ad units. This new capability is called yield management and  is powered by DoubleClick Ad Exchange.

Google says it would help you generate the most profit for every ad that appears on your site. More ad networks mean more competition and this means display of higher bid whether that comes from AdWords or other ad networks.

Google further says

We conduct a thorough certification process to ensure that ad networks meet Google’s requirements for third-party ad serving with regard to user privacy, accuracy of measurement, latency, and compliance with our creative policies.

The ads are placed in standard ad formats offered by Google in Adsense.

If you wish you can also request allowing or disallowing  a particular ad network.

To allow or block ad networks:

1. Sign in to AdSense.
2. Click the AdSense Setup tab and then the Ad Review Center tab to see a summary of allowed and blocked ad networks.
3. Click change beside the summary.
4. Choose whether to allow or block ad networks in the ‘Allowed ad networks’ box:

  • Click block beside the ad networks you want to block. (To block all Google certified ad networks, click block all.)
  • Click allow beside the ad networks you want to allow.

5. Click Submit. Changes will take effect within approximately one hour.

Certified ad networks and advertisers are not allowed to collect data from your site for the purpose of subsequent targeting.

Would this actually transform to higher earnings per click.

It seems very likely.
