Each us loves one browser or other. I for the matter use and love Firefox so much that I often imagine why everybody is not using Firefox.

Well there are many reasons why people choose one particular thing or item for use and reasons vary from availability to affection.

But when it comes to your businesss you cannot take risks.

Your website must function in each and every browser people out there are using.

One of the ways to do that is download each browser on to your PC and then checking individually in each one.

But there is smarter way to it.

Use Browser Shots service

What is Browser Shots

Browsershots makes screenshots of your web design in different browsers. It is a free open-source online service.

When you submit your web address, it is added to the job queue and a number of distributed computers will open the website in their browser. Then they will make screenshots and upload them to the central server.

After the job is done you are presented with these loaded screenshots that you can use to visualize the look of your site.

Go check out.

How do you check browser compatibility of your site. Please suggest other resources you know of

I would make this quick.

I just want to mention about Gadget Advisor . It is a relatively a new site, but is growing fast. Instead of publishing every tech news, the site focuses on the product s and news that are the significant, useful, or particularly cool.

The areas covered are computer hardware, software, gadgets, and tech news. I liked the concept. Instead of wading through pages of useless stuff, you can reach what you are looking for. The reviews are nicely written like this article on universal remote control from Logitech.

But I wish if the articles could be longer and bulletted instead of short paragraphs. Make the reading easy. I lost enthusiasm in this article on network media player while I was halfway through.

Similarly this article on online backup services looks bit dry for want of subheadings.

It appears promising concept and for a while I have bookmarked it. I would update how this site develops.

I recently visited Super WareHouse while I searched for Apple Ipods. I was amazed to see the product range they offered. pcs, notebooks, monitors, scanners, projectors, hard drives, business softwares of different kinds, networking equipments, cameras, printers etc. As per their website claims they offer more than 50,000 products of different brands like Apple, HP, Cisco, IBM, Sony, Canon, Epson, Konica, Minolta, Lexmark, Xerox and more.

Because I was intrigued I also decided to checkother thingsand started with Apple computers . When you click a product you are taken to the page that describes the product in detail. This is a very nice feature that helps the customer to make a decision. They also happened to have an expert advice if you are not sure what you are looking for. It takes you through series of questions and in the end tells you most suitable products for you. I am not very fond of such wizards as I like to do search myself but it could come in handy for the one who is confused or overwhelmed.

If you stay in US they offer free ground shipping for purchases more than $299. This service covers most of the states.

I spent quite a lot time on my search and came back to Ipod. I selected Apple Ipod Nano 4GB Silver . Let us see how does it go.

Just to mention, Super Warehouse was founded by Russell Schneider out of a 2 bedroom apartment and has grown to 16 warehouses located throughout the United States.

Is not this kind of success that we look for in our internet entrepreneurship.

I must confess. I am not good at remembering acronyms. But every now and then I come across somebody who would throw an acronym at me and that would take ages to decipher.

Web has become so vast that now you need to classify the sites on the kinds of things they aim to do. I came across this classification in Wikipedia. I thought of sharing it with you. It is quite interesting.

Affiliate: Enabled portal that renders not only its custom CMS but also syndicated content from other content providers for an agreed fee. There are usually three relationship tiers. Affiliate Agencies (e.g., Commission Junction), Advertisers (e.g., Ebay) and consumer (e.g., Yahoo).

Archive site: This kind of site used to preserve valuable electronic content threatened with extinction.
After product creation and domain name registration selecting a host is the next important step towards building your Internet business.

If you are an individual who is just starting his/her online business venture I would recommend you to start with [tag-tec]shared hosting[/tag-tec]. But ultimately you will have to decide which is right for you and your business.

In my opinion, for commercial sites, free hosting is a waste of time. Your users are exposed to annoying pop-up advertisements every time they come to your page and you don’t even get a real business URL. No ones going to remember your web address if they have to type something like SomeFreeHosting.com/some_site.

The best method is to choose a cheaper host at the beginning and move up as your business begins to bring in money.

What are some of the things you should look for when choosing a web host?

Uptime and speed: A web host should be reliable, it should be fast and it should guarantee its uptime i.e. the time when your site is functional and available for access to your visitors. Look for a minimum uptime of 99.5% or higher.

Bandwidth: Bandwidth refers to the bytes of data transferred from your site to visitors when they browse your site. Look for the exact amount you will get per month with your package. It is a always a good move to stay away from the hosts which offer you unlimited bandwidth because that is surely an unfeasible claim. Your host has to pay for the bandwidth usage and unlimited bandwidth is surely a false claim.
To give you an idea most new sites that that do not offer heavy downloads would require between 1-3GB of bandwidth per month. However your traffic requirements will grow over time so it is wise to choose a wide margin.

Disk space: Again if you are not planning to store heavy files, you will hardly require beyond 5-10 MB though most of the good hosts offer you space much more than that. Do not go for “Unlimited Space” calls. However keep in mind the future. You may like to expand. But consideration of the space should not be a primary factor.

Technical support: Your host should provide you with technical support round the clock including weekends. You can check them by mailing on weekends and find how long do they take to respond. Apart from speed they should be able to provide you competent support. I would always prefer a host that also offers live support and phone support apart from email support.
Scripts: When you develop a website, you will need FTP, PHP, Perl, CGI-BIN access, SSI, .htaccess, telnet, SSH crontabs etc. Make sure that your host provides all of these features in the package. Check to see if these facilities are provided. Your host should have listed these in the features of the package.SSL (secure server), MySQL, Shopping Cart are needed for a business website. If your host does not provide you these in the package, it is not worth joining.

Moreover you should also have features like Email, Autoresponders, POP3, Mail Forwarding so that you can have an email address on your domain

Control Panel: This is the interface which allows you to do things like add, delete, and manage your email addresses, and change passwords for your account. These are common maintenance chores that every webmaster performs on a regular basis.

Additional Domains/Subdoamins: You should look for these options if you plan to host more than one website or are likely to do in near future. I had to change my host as previous one would not allow hosting of additional domains.

Server Type: In comparison to Windows Uniix based servers are cheaper, more stable and feature-laden. However for asp script, a Windows based server is more desirable.

Fee Factor: This obviously is very important. There are hosts which would charge you $25 per month and are provide you restricted features whereas better services are offered by others at $6 per month.

A costlier host need not be better and if the features you desire are provided by a reliable cheaper host then it is wise to choose the later.

I would advise you not to go for annual payment plan in the beginning. Try the host with monthly plans first and when sure of worthiness and reliability, move to annual plans because annual plans allow you to save money.

If you happen to buy from a reseller, do investigate the actual company he represents. Resellers sometime offer even a better bargain than their company.

Terms and Conditions: Always read the terms and conditions. There may be special restrictions on what you can or cannot have on your site. Just find out.

Note: After paying a fortune per month and use the restricted features I finally moved to a host that is reliable and offers you a variety of economical packages. Check that out here.

A [tag-tec]web host[/tag-tec] is just a server that provides a home for your website on the World Wide Web. It contains your web files as your computer contains all your files. Can you host your website on your home computer?

Technically speaking, you can but should you?

NO.

If you host your web site on your computer, visitors would have to connect directly to your computer to see your website and that’s not a good idea.

It wouldn’t be secure: Internet is full of threats and unless you spend a fortune your computer would always be vulnerable to all kinds of threats. Security problems are sometimes found in server software, and these can be exploited to gain access to or damage your files. Your computer must be kept absolutely up to date. that is a daunting task.

If you want your site to be available 24x 7, your computer needs constantly connected to the Internet. Your machine would be working day and night. More strain on your bandwidth.

It might appear to but it will not save you money. Rather it may cost more in the long run.

It won’t save you time. Apart from building your business, you would also need to maintain your server.

You would need to learn a lot about working of a server and things like DNS, web server setup, security, debugging problems, logs, patching the server software. I think you should put that time in use to grow your business.

If anything breaks, it is your own responsibility to find the problem and fix it. And meanwhile your site would be down.

You would need to monitor your server all the time. You cannot leave for a project and then come back to find that your site is not working.

Remember! You came into this business because you wish to make a wealthy future and become independent enough to get out of that job routine rut. There is no point in starting a venture that would eat all your time and put you in a constant job again.

You started your business because you wish more time for yourself and your family.

Web hosting companies are professional in this and it is good for your business that you host your site with a hosting company. For a small monthly fee, you can enjoy a good hosting without any attached headaches.

The best reason to host your web site at home is to learn how does it work but for your business it is important to learn marketing skills rather than how a server functions.

Leave that to the geeks. Host your site with a hosting company and concentrate on your business.

Note: Host Gator is the hosting company where my sites are hosted. They are very good and their fee starts from $6 per month. You can also host unlimited sites with them for $10 per month and is backed up by good support system.

If you still have not decided you should check Host Gator.

Expired domains are the domains which people register but do not renew for some reason or other. These domains come into open market again and are available for the customers.

It happens so that webmasters invest time, effort and money to promote their site and build up traffic. But many of them move on and are not actively involved in site promotion. There web site is up and running as long as they own domain and pay a hosting fee. Even if there site is not up, all the automatic marketing systems they have put in place still bring in traffic. The site gets regular visitors.

Those domains expire in their due course due to non renewal. If you get these domains with prebuilt traffic, you get a pre-built stream of customers. You can use that domain to build a new web site or use that traffic by redirecting the traffic to your site.

But you need to find a place where you can get the authentic websites with prebuilt traffic and not get duped by buying outdated websites which do not carry any traffic.

DeletedDomains.com is the number one resource if you wish to go to a trustworthy web site.
